Know the signs

Signs your water heater needs a plumber

No hot water, or it runs out fastOften a burner, element, thermostat or sediment problem, and many of those are repairable.
Water around the base of the tankCould be a fitting or relief valve, or the tank itself. Shut off the water to the heater and call.
Rumbling or popping soundsMineral sediment has built up in the bottom of the tank and is making it work harder.
Rusty or smelly hot waterCan point to a worn anode rod or a tank that's starting to corrode from the inside.
Pilot light keeps going outUsually a thermocouple, gas supply or venting issue on gas units. Don't keep relighting it.
The tank is 10+ years oldMost tank heaters last around 8 to 12 years. Worth a check before it fails on a cold morning.

Straight talk

Repair or replace? A straight answer

Plenty of water heater calls end with a part, not a new tank. A thermocouple, gas valve, heating element or thermostat is a fraction of the cost of replacement. Romauldo will tell you when a repair is the smart move, and when it isn't.

When a tank is leaking from the body, badly corroded, or near the end of its life, replacement is the safer call. We'll walk you through tank versus tankless, gas versus electric, and what fits your home and budget.

North Texas water carries minerals that settle in the bottom of the tank over time. Flushing it about once a year helps it heat efficiently and last longer. Ask us about it when we're out.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can you repair my water heater instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. Thermocouples, gas valves, heating elements, thermostats and relief valves can usually be replaced. If the tank itself is leaking or badly corroded, replacement is the safer option, and we'll explain why.

Do you install tankless water heaters?

Yes. We install gas and electric tankless water heaters and can upgrade an existing tank system to tankless.

How long does a tank water heater last?

Most last around 8 to 12 years, depending on water quality and maintenance. Flushing sediment about once a year helps.
