Straight talk
Why slab leaks are so common in DFW
North Texas sits on expansive clay soil. It swells when it's wet and shrinks when it's dry, and that movement puts stress on the pipes running under a slab foundation. Older copper and cast-iron lines are especially vulnerable.
There's more than one way to fix a slab leak. Sometimes the right answer is a single spot repair through the slab. Sometimes it makes more sense to reroute the line through the walls or attic and leave the slab alone. When lines are failing in several places, a repipe may be the long-term fix. You'll hear the honest pros and cons of each.
If you think you have a slab leak, shut off the main water valve and call. Water under a foundation only gets more expensive the longer it runs.

Questions
Frequently asked
How do I know if I have a slab leak?
Common signs are a sudden jump in your water bill, warm spots on the floor, the sound of running water when everything is off, damp flooring, and a water meter that keeps moving with all fixtures off.
Do you have to break up my floor?
Not always. Depending on where the leak is and the condition of your pipes, rerouting the line through the walls or attic can avoid opening the slab. We'll explain each option.
What should I do while I wait for a plumber?
Shut off the main water valve to stop the leak, and call (682) 568-8280. If water is coming up into the house, move valuables off the floor.
Do you offer free estimates?
